These recommendations will help to make your Zumba experience more enjoyable:

1. ATTIRE. Wear comfortable clothing that doesn't hinder movement. Choose fabrics that breathe, rather than those that retain body heat. Wear shoes with proper design, support and cushioning. The right  shoes help you dance more comfortably, and avoid any pain in your knees or anckles. There are few places around the Richmond area where you can find a good selection of shoes. My favorites are Jazz sneakers (the ones that support the arch) and some Nike like 'Shox Electro'  or "Shox O Drive" (Fitness Dance shoes). Check www.ellmansdancewear.com or www.dance4less.com or http://www.dancewearsolutions.com/

2. HYDRATION AND REHYDRATION. Please hydrate before, during, and after exercise in order to replenish necessary body fluids and to mantain electrolyte balance. And please do not forget recycling. Plastic bottles take 700 years before they begin to decompose in a landfill.

3. CLASS LEVEL. Remember that when you come to Zumba, I am just helping you with the dance routines and of course to have fun with them, but only you can decide the intensity you want to work. That is the beauty of Zumba. You can be in moderate level, intermediate or advance level, anything that make you feel happy. And when you know the steps and you are ready, give yourself a little push and increase your level. But always remember to go at your own pase. Listen to your body, and do not forget to breathe ALL THE TIME.

 4. NO FRUSTRATION. Do not get frustrated that you are not getting the steps right away. Dancing is like anything in life, it is  like learning to decorate a cake (another of my passions). When you start to learn, the cakes maybe do not look super, but after you decorate one, and another, everything comes so natural, and then, the cake looks so beautiful. I am going to post some of my creations and you will see the difference. Anyway, give yourself time to listen and feel the music and all the different rhytms, learn the steps, and just HAVE FUN!. You will be surprised how quick you get the routines once you know the basics, and if you don't, do not worry, enjoy the class and dance like nobody is watching you.

5. ZUMBA STEPS. Anytime you want to go over a step, or you have any kind of question, please feel free to ask me before or after class. I am always there for you, my great students. And if you have any suggestion or you want to dance a particular song, please let me know and I'll prepare the song for the next class or we'll dance it right away.
